About Me

It takes a village.

I was born in the twin islands of Trinidad and Tobago in the Caribbean, where everyone celebrated Eid, Diwali and Christmas – a melting pot of cultures.

My mom, a high school teacher, raised 4 daughters and instilled in us the importance of education. A community of grandmothers, aunts, neighbors and teachers rallied for us to be independent and define our own path in life.

I attended the University of the West Indies, completing a Bsc. Computer Science and Business Management degree. I became a US citizen in 2019 and voted for the first time in 2020. I am a working parent. Currently a director for a national healthcare organization with over 15 years of leadership experience, including building teams globally.

14 years ago my husband and I chose to make Aurora our forever home – one of the more diverse cities in America with our community from 130 countries with 160 languages. We choose to raise our daughters in Aurora to be immersed in diversity; honoring differences and traditions. Our daughters attend school in APS and the dedication of their teachers has instilled in them a love of learning.

I have served on the District Accountability Advisory Committee (DAAC) for APS and continue to be involved in the community, advocating for our youth. I have over 4 years of school board governance experience, serving a student population consisting of kids from diverse backgrounds and cultures, in particular under-served kids in Aurora.

Why am I running for Aurora Public Schools Board of Education?

Having access to a high quality education is essential and shouldn’t depend on where your story began. Aurora schools are blessed with a diversity of backgrounds, languages, and cultures and this presents its own unique opportunities. As a mother and immigrant, I’m passionate about getting to work to make sure every one of our kids has a fair shot.
